The Fontaine Academy of Music (FAM) offers private instruction and group lessons for beginning through advanced levels of study.  Lessons are offered in all instruments and voice.  Careful consideration is given to matching students with appropriate instruments and teachers.  For this purpose a meeting is held with all students and parents prior to registration.  Transfer students are required to perform two pieces of contrasting periods to gauge their level of study.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered at the Fontaine Academy of Music in all instruments and voice.  Faculty members will develop a lesson plan for each student based on the student’s age, playing level, and goals or interest discussed during the interview session.  Beginner, intermediate and advanced level instruction is available and lessons are 30, 45, 60 and 90 minutes long.

Master classes

FAM offers its students the opportunity to participate in master classes taught by world-renowned performers and pedagogues.  These sessions provide students with great insight on their performances by receiving instant feedback from the guest artist moderating the class.

Recitals and Performance Opportunities

Music is an art form that is always much more fun when it is shared with others.  Recitals, which are held throughout the year, are a great opportunity for students to perform in front of an audience.  They serve as a great tool to help build confidence and great musicianship skills for our students.  Participation, although optional, is highly recommended.

Adults Classes

Private lessons are offered on all instruments and voice to our adult clientele.  They can also participate in ensembles, vocal workshops, sight singing and jazz ensemble courses.  This is a great opportunity for first timers as well as seasoned musicians looking to sharpen-up their skills.

Ensembles

All of our students get the exciting opportunity to participate in one of our chamber music groups. This is a wonderful way for students to create great music with their peers while having lots of fun in the process.  Our ensemble program, which showcases the students’ talents, is meant to enhance our private lesson curriculum.

Honors Program

At our academy, students of all ages can develop a sustained interest in music while striving to achieve their highest musical potential.  We offer a comprehensive curriculum for the music enthusiast as well as an extensive Honors Program for our gifted and dedicated students.  This advanced program features numerous performance opportunities as a soloist or as part of an ensemble, master classes and college preparatory courses.
